Good morning.
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to Kebbi State Police Command Headquarters, Birnin Kebbi, to keep you abreast on the remarkable achievements recorded by the Command within the period under review.
UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF DRIED LEAVES SUSPECTED TO BE INDIAN HEMP: On the 10th September, 2023 at about 1913hrs, a team of Police Boarder Patrol, attached to Saranfo-Maje road, Tsamiya district of Bagudo LGA of Kebbi State, while on routine stop and search, they intercepted a container Truck with Reg. No. IT 21520 LA, Lagos State. When search was conducted, Four Thousand Nine Hundred and Twenty Seven (4,927) parcels of dried leaves suspected to be indian hemp, worth over Three Hundred Million Naira ( #300, 000, 000) were recovered. Hence, one Emmanuel Chukwuma ‘m’ of Bende LGA, Abia State, (2) Kanta Bisa ‘m’ of Asaka LGA, Ghana Republic and (3) Shola Adeyemi ‘m’ of Olufan, Akure LGA, Ondo State were arrested. Investigation is ongoing with a view to arresting the fleeing suspects.
Similarly, on the 12th September, 2023 at about 2130hrs, the same dedicated, courageous and very hardworking team of Police Border patrol, intercepted and recovered another container truck with Reg No. IT 21608 LA, Lagos State, with Seven Thousand and Five Hundred (7,500) live cartridges, and as well, Four Thousand, Nine Hundred and Six (4,906) parcels of dried leaves suspected to be indian hemp, worth over Three Hundred Million Naira (# 300, 000 000). In view of that, one Abdulrazak Agboola ‘m’ of Iyana Ajiya area of Ibadan, Oyo State was arrested.
During preliminary investigation, the suspects confessed to have been hired by yet to be identified people to convey the recovered exhibits to Lagos State from the Republic of Ghana. Investigation currently ongoing to arrest their accomplices.
In the light of the above, I want to reiterate the Command's readiness and determination in fighting crimes and criminality to it's bearest minimum.
Finally, members of the public are hereby advised to continue to cooperate with the Police and other security agencies with timely and accurate information for prompt response, please.
